eat local, queen anne
Eat Local caters to folks that don’t want to cook (whether that be out of laziness or inability). Here you can buy pre-made meals prepared with wholesome local ingredients. Its like having a personal chef that scours the farmers markets during the week then loads up your freezer with delicious ready to heat and eat entrees. Really, its absolute convenience without a hint of compromise- no concessions are made on quality ingredients nor on the spectacular dishes that contain them.Whats offered are dishes that I actually want to eat. To me, getting “take out” means a sub par meal only made worthwhile by the fact that it requires minimal effort on my behalf. On occasion, I want out of the kitchen and on those nights, I don’t expect to be satisfied- I just expect to be fed. Sad but true. I certainly don’t expect- Coq au Vin, Pork Cassoulet, Beef Wellington, Squash Risotto or handmade Smoked Salmon Tagliatelle pasta. All of these dishes (and many more) grace the ever changing seasonal menu at Eat Local. There are also house made desserts (Flourless Chocolate Cake, Cheesecake, Seasonal Fruit Crisps), locally produced ice creams, wine, snack foods and even a freezer solely devoted to Thundering Hooves pasture raised meats. The entree sizes vary- 1, 2 or 4 servings and the option given of a reusable glass container that may be returned for a deposit to reduce waste. The Queen Anne store is open 7 days a week but if laziness is something one cares to expand on- Eat Local also offers delivery via Spud. The storefront, however, is worth checking out. Its a nice space- light and airy, the walls decorated with designs by Olympia artist Nikki McClure. Theres also a sweet little coffee bar that offers Stumptown lattes and Americanos for only a buck…superb coffee at a gas station price- that may in itself be worth the trip.
