the bleu brick road: eating asia.
My favorite lunch in the summer- hands down no contest: Fresh Spring Rolls. When its hot out they truly are the perfect food…all fresh and crunchy and light and whatnot. I love the soft rice paper wrappers and their tasty colorful fillings: sweet basil, bright mint, fragrant cilantro, crunchy carrot, tender rice noodles, savory tofu, refreshing lettuce. The rolls themselves are delicious but the dipping sauce is the cherry on top- personally, I love a good peanut sauce as accompaniment. Fresh Spring Rolls were a part of the menu today and needless to say, I had a good ol’ time rolling them up (and chowing them down). What else?
Pot Stickers- filled with some sort of ground pork mixture.Lumpia- the Filipino version of eggrolls. I like eggrolls alright but personally Im not a big fan of the deep fryer so sue me.
Phad Thai- Im so sick of Phad Thai. I feel as though I’ve eaten waaaaay too much of it in my lifetime but really, I dont think I’ve have had it that often so that goes to show you how I feel about it- even a little is too much. This is the dish that usually introduces folks to Thai cuisine. Nothin’ special here.
Singapore Noodles- a curry flavored medley of veggies, meats & noodles all tossed together.
Humbow- little lovely steamed buns filled with shredded meat.
