the bleu brick road: memories of mexico.
Mexico is, and always will be, my second home. I lived down there for quite some time and to this day own a small farm on the outskirts of a tiny (yet increasingly popular) surf town. The place is magic. The food, the folks, the land, the culture in general…its all lovely and lively and simply put, its paradise. Todays lesson brought me back- just the smells circulating about the kitchen had me dizzy with memory. Tamales, Empanadas, Pupusas, Tortillas, Chile Relleno- we prepared yet another glorious feast. This meal made me yearn for Mexico something fierce, in a way I hadn’t for a long time. So it goes, my schoolday was spent in the depths of daydreams recalling my days down South (its a wonder I got anything done)- this, my friends, is dangerous thinking when so close to the end of a culinary program. Today, I would’ve promised my first born for some of that tropical sun.
